The Director of Public Prosecutions, Noordin Haji, officially launched the training of prosecutors as the roll-out on the establishment of the ODPP’s prosecutors’ training institute (PTI) kicks off.

The DPP said that he was committed to ensuring that his office invests in “Continuous Professional Skills Development as key in re-tooling the ODPP into a 21st Century Prosecutions Agency”. He added that this would involve aspects such as training, development of a curriculum for prosecutors in both general and thematic areas, design of training manuals and capacity empowerment for the upcoming PTI.

Fifty (50) prosecutors were trained on trial advocacy and prosecution of terrorism cases. This was facilitated by Lawyers Without Borders (LWOB), a US-based organization that will implement the two (2) year project. The LWOB team was led by The Hon. Rtd Justice Ann Williams.
